Our Patient/Family Support Volunteers provide support services such as reading, writing letters, performing household tasks, lawn care, dog walking, relieving the caregiver to allow them a moment out of the home, or even just providing an outlet for the patient to talk. Volunteers can help patients create keepsake recordings for their family, and provide social / emotional support to the family. Volunteers are matched and assigned to one family who they will typically visit once per week. Those who enjoy being a caregiver or companion make great volunteers. Schedules can be flexible.
We provide all the training, support, and supervision to help you feel comfortable and confident in your role.
Typically we ask for a 6 month volunteer commitment in this particular role. Volunteers must complete:
- Application Online
- 2 Reference Letters (available online)
- Interview / Background Check
- Medical Screening
- Volunteer Orientation (8 hours, mostly available online)
It takes a very special person to volunteer with Hospice Family Care. Our volunteers come from a variety of cultural, social and professional backgrounds. The agency embraces this diversity and understands the value that those experiences bring to our organization. Hospice Family Care fully recognizes and appreciates the support offered by each and every volunteer.
